Steve has been a licensed, practicing coach since being the Captain at D1 soccer powerhouse Indiana University and being an All-Star and Captain with professional teams such as Detroit Express, Wichita Wings and Dallas Americans. Whether coaching college, high school, or some of the top clubs in the nation including LA Galaxy and Strikers, the focus has always been on player development (teaching the game) and personal development (being better citizens) which leads to success on both fronts. One of the teams Steve and his dad (Dick who is current assistant) coached from U-8 to U-18, was Busch (now STL Scott Gallagher), where they won the national championship with most of the players going on to play soccer either at D1 colleges or to the pros. In fact, the current starting goalie for Nashville MLS team, Joe Willis played for this soccer coaching duo. Steve also took the U-23 Men’s Busch Team to the Semis at Nationals.

Steve and his dad (both in the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame) have coached collectively hundreds, if not thousands of boys across the nation, with many playing beyond high school. No matter what level these players participated in (with many still playing as adults) they almost to a person share the “love of the beautiful game”.
